Materials & Care
Materials & Care
At House of Atlas Jewellery, our pieces are thoughtfully crafted using a blend of high-quality materials including sterling silver, 14k or 18k gold plating, and, in some cases, brass-based metals. With proper care, your jewellery will remain beautiful for years to come.
Materials We Use
-
Sterling Silver (925): Durable and classic, our sterling silver pieces are perfect for everyday wear and may naturally develop a soft patina over time.
-
Gold-Plated Jewellery: We use 14k or 18k gold plating over sterling silver or brass for a radiant, luxurious finish.
-
Brass (Gold-Plated): Some designs include a brass base with gold plating to achieve specific finishes or structure. These pieces require a bit more care to maintain their appearance.
Please note: Plated jewelry is not solid gold, and over time the layer of gold may fade depending on care, wear frequency, and exposure to elements.
Jewellery Care Tips
To keep your pieces looking their best, we recommend the following:
-
Avoid contact with water, perfume, lotions, sweat, and cleaning products.
Remove your jewellery before showering, exercising, or swimming. -
Store pieces in a dry, cool place.
Use the original pouch or a soft-lined box to prevent scratches and tangling. -
Clean gently.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe your jewellery after wearing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or cloths. -
Rotate your jewellery.
Give your favourite pieces a rest to extend the life of plated finishes.
Natural Tarnishing
Tarnishing is a natural process, especially with sterling silver and brass. This isn’t a fault, but part of the material's nature. Regular cleaning and proper storage will help reduce this.
